The original Laser Hair Removal Service in dallas

What Makes Advanced Skin Fitness the Best Laser Hair Removal Service in Dallas?

Advanced Skin Fitness is the original med spa offering laser hair removal in Dallas. We’ve done more procedures than anyone here and we continue to pride ourselves in the unmatched quality of our treatments.

No other hair removal medspa in Dallas offers the same level of effective treatment and cutting edge next generation laser treatments combined with affordability that Advanced Skin Fitness does. Our GentleLASE laser hair removal process is newer, faster, more longer lasting and safer than prior technologies.

Laser hair removal eliminates nasty cuts from shaving, the eye-watering sting from tweezing and the scorching burns and swelling from waxing and depilatories. Advanced Skin Fitness is equipped to provide the safest, most painless and cost-efficient non-invasive alternatives to traditional laser treatments. We recommend laser hair removal as a better alternative to electrolysis which takes longer and is more costly than contemporary laser treatments. Using laser hair removal is ideal for those sensitive areas and fast hair removal. Because laser hair removal involves using light to penetrate the hair follicles, it can zap multiple hairs at once easily, quickly and safely. We’ve addressed some common questions that men, women, and patients having facial hair removal may have before the procedure.

Will Laser Hair Removal Work for Anyone?

Laser hair removal works on most men and women and on all types of skin including tanned skin and skin of color. Removing hair with laser treatment is recommended for most people, even those with darker skin, who may be at risk of burning or hyperpigmentation. As long as the correct lasers are used, people with darker skin should have a comfortable experience.Laser Hair Removal vs Waxing

Laser vs Waxing

Laser treatment and waxing both remove unwanted hair, but laser treatment is long lasting and waxing is not. Laser treatment offers long term hair removal, eventually after multiple treatments. In between treatments, patients will notice thinner, lighter hair until the hair can no longer grow in that area. Waxing may slow down the regrowth process, but the hair follicle is not destroyed, so hair will continue to grow back just as thick. There is a stinging pain associated with waxing followed by a throbbing to the area that has been treated. Laser treatment is usually not as uncomfortable but can feel unpleasant without a topical anesthetic to ease the discomfort. Waxing is slightly less costly than laser treatment, but over time, the laser treatment will be more cost effective, since the hair will stop growing in the treated area.

Who Should Avoid Lasers?

Patients with medical conditions, allergies, certain medications, and recent tans may have an adverse reaction to the laser treatment or find that it’s not very effective. In addition, laser hair removal is now approved for use on pregnant women.

What do I do Before My Treatment?

There are some practices and things to avoid to ensure the best results. Patients should notify their technician of any cosmetic products, medications, prescriptions or vitamins they may be consuming or using. Accutane and certain medications should be avoided. They can sometimes make patients photosensitive. Avoid the treatment if you have cold sores or have used self-tanners. Refrain from removing facial hair at least three days before the laser treatment. Waxing or plucking should be done at least 4 weeks prior to the laser treatment and should be stopped one laser hair removal has started.

What do I do About Regrowth After My Treatment?

Patients should avoid plucking and waxing. Plucking and waxing are advised against. These techniques will remove the root, which will make laser treatment less effective since it needs to target the root to destroy the hair follicle. Shaving is the best option between sessions, but likely the hair will be so light and fine during your follow up treatments that no shaving will be needed.

How Long Does it Take?

Depending on how much hair is being removed, it can be a few minutes. Choosing laser treatment to remove hair is a faster and easier procedure than conventional methods like waxing and plucking. For areas like underarms and upper lip hair removal, the procedure is fast, possibly 5 minutes. Larger areas such as full backs or full legs could take a couple of hours. It’s a great solution that allows a long stretch between hair removal maintenance and possible ingrown hairs.

How Long Does it Take for Men?

Men normally have facial and larger areas treated. The time for the procedure may vary from 5 minutes to a couple of hours. The most common areas for men to remove unwanted hair are legs, chest, back, abdomen, jockey line, and buttocks. The average time for the procedure is 30 minutes. But large areas require many more beams of light to reach each hair follicle and destroy it, so the length of time for the session is extended. For smaller areas, the sessions are over pretty fast. For instance, the back of the neck covers a small area, so the time of a laser treatment can take about 2 minutes to remove the hair between the shoulders and the hair line. Some sessions will last a couple of hours to remove the hair on the back, chest or backs of the legs.

How Long Does it Take for Women?

Laser hair removal sessions vary in time, depending on the area where the treatment is being applied. Removing facial hair may only require treating a small area, so the procedure may only last about 5 minutes. The most common areas for women to remove hair are legs, bikini, cheeks, chin, upper lips, arms, and underarms. The average session for laser hair removal is about 30 minutes. Larger areas like the backs of the legs may take 60 minutes.

Are There Any Side Effects?

Some patients may experience minor swelling or redness which tends to dissipate after a few days. Avoid the sun if possible six weeks before and six weeks after the treatment. Patients who are exposed run the risk of minimal hair removal and post-treatment complications. Use sunblock with SPF 50 or higher and Aloe Vera Gel for any slight irritation.

What is the Difference Between IPL and Laser?

Laser Hair Removal uses a laser to destroy the hair follicle and an IPL uses light to do the same. IPL, which is Intense Pulsed Light, can be very effective for hair removal, but it uses a high-intensity light apparatus with multiple wavelengths to spot the melanin in the hair, heat it, then penetrate the hair follicle to destroy it. Laser Hair Removal has a similar process, except that it uses a laser and one wavelength to impair the follicle from new growth. Laser Hair Removal is safer for dark skin. As long as a Nd:YAG laser is used, patients can avoid burning of the skin or hyperpigmentation, which will accelerate darkening of the skin. IPL is not recommended for dark skin. The procedure works better on fair skin with dark hair. Patients with dark skin who opt for IPL may notice that the hair will regrow quickly, darkening of the skin occurs and they may suffer the discomfort of burnt skin.

How Effective is Laser Hair Removal on Blond Hair?

Laser hair removal is not effective on white, gray, red or blond hair. Traditional laser treatments have often been ineffective at slowing and stopping the growth of the hair that does not show a stark contrast with fair skin. Typically patients with dark hair have been the best candidates for laser hair removal.

Does Laser Hair Removal Work for Facial Hair?

Facial hair removal with laser treatment can significantly slow down and stop the regrowth of facial hair. For the cessation of facial hair regrowth, it may be necessary to have a few treatments. After each treatment, the patient should gradually see less and less hair grow back until the area remains smooth indefinitely. It’s recommended that patients space treatments 6-8 weeks apart until the unwanted hair no longer appears.

Laser Hair Removal Just for Men

Guys, you deserve to feel confident and proud of your body. If you’ve ever thought about getting laser hair removal, then we’d like the chance to talk to you. We were the first medspa in Dallas to build a service just for men. We have better technology and better training to deal with stubborn hair removal issues that used to be outside the ability of laser techniques to deal with. The best part of all, our pricing is better than anyone’s (even inferior clinics) in town.

Men have special needs when it comes to hair removal. Most often, they need large areas of the body to be swept clean: the chest, legs, and back are typical areas for men’s hair removal procedures but many also choose the abdomen, men’s jockey line or buttocks as well. Our laser’s cool light combines the accuracy of the razor with the permanence of electrolysis, while both being more long term and less painful.

Our technicians know how to make you feel at ease. We take your self-image seriously and want to help you look amazing. Call us today to have a quick chat. There’s no sales pressure at Advanced Skin Fitness. We’ll talk to you about your options, what to expect, and answer all the questions you could have.
