  • Plump Lips

Lips that have been augmented by injecting dermal fillers. They will appear more full with injectable fillers like Restylane or Juvederm.

A treatment that is designed to contour the size of the cheeks. The cheeks are injected with dermal fillers like Restylane or Juvederm to fill in sunken cheeks and highlight the cheekbones.

  • Tear Troughs

Tear troughs refer to the area of the face located between the lower eyelid and the cheeks. The grooves between the eyelids and the cheeks become hollow, but can be improved with Restylane or Juvederm dermal fillers.

  • Dark Circles

DERMAL FillerS - Restylane®, Perlane® and Juvéderm®

Because of so many advances in technology, patients have other non-surgical choices for smoothing and contouring the skin. Facial Fillers, also known as injectables or dermal fillers, are a great non-invasive alternative. There are several safe fillers to choose from. We use Hyaluronic Acid Fillers like Restylane®, Perlane®, Juvéderm®. Each one is highly effective at adding volume to sagging skin and producing amazing results. Although these fillers are similar in purpose, they have different attributes, so there are some common questions that we can address to help you make a choice on which one is best for you.

What is a facial or dermal filler?

A facial filler is a gel that is injected into the dermal layer of the skin to fill in and smooth areas that have wrinkled, sagged, sunken or scarred. At Advanced Skin Fitness we use fillers that are made from hyaluronic acid, which is fundamental for cell renewal. The fillers contain a smooth consistent gel that re-establish volume to shallow skin. When the skin starts to wrinkle and sag due to aging, water deficiency, sun damage or creasing facial expressions, a facial filler can be a safe and effective solution. Facial fillers help to enhance thin lips, add dimension to shallow cheeks, improve sunken eyes and dark circles, smooth folds in the skin and make deep scars look less pronounced. With the proper application, these issues can be minimized and eliminated temporarily to give the skin a more youthful appearance.

How do Facial / Dermal Fillers work?

Facial fillers are injected into the area of the skin that needs treatment. At Advanced Skin Fitness, the injector will evaluate your skin before administering the filler. Based on what you’re trying to achieve, a specific filler will be chosen to render the best results for your skin. Small amounts of the filler is injected into the skin with a very fine needle. The gel allows the skin to naturally plump beneath the wrinkle and smooth out. Water accumulates in the injected area, so the area can remain plumped for an extended amount of time.

How long does it take for a Facial Filler treatment?

The procedure should take about 20-30 minutes. Administering a facial filler treatment is expected to take 20-30 minutes to treat each area. The procedure time could also depend on how many injections are used for the area.

How soon can results be expected with a Facial Filler?

Results can be expected immediately but will improve over the next few days. Patients can expect to see smoother skin directly after the procedure. But each case is unique, so results can vary. Deeper lines and wrinkles may require more injections or sooner follow ups. Patients should expect to see continued improvement for up to two weeks after the procedure.

How long does the Facial Filler last?

One treatment will last for 9 – 12 months depending on the area and the product chosen. For the initial injection, the injector will be able to assess how much a patient will need for the treatment. The effects should last about nine to twelve months. Each patient is unique, so genetics, age and habits are an indicator of how long the filler will last. We recommend touch ups to increase the length of the treatment. Are there any side effects or risks involved with Facial Fillers? If any side effects occur, they may present as swelling or tenderness in the injection area. Patients may experience light bruising and redness. The effects should subside within a few days to a week. There is also a very rare but possible risk of infection. Injection sites can rarely become infected, because the skin has been penetrated. Again, this is a rare occurrence, but patients should be aware of the possibility. Taking certain medicines and supplements may interfere with the treatment, as well as alcohol consumption up to 48 hours before treatment. Patients should notify their physician if they have consumed any of these substances or if they’re pregnant before the treatment.

Is there pain involved with getting a Facial Filler?

There is usually no pain involved with getting the treatment. But there may be a slight discomfort in some patients, so precautions are taken. Patients receiving the procedure will normally have topical numbing cream applied to the treatment area or receive an anesthetic to decrease discomfort. The injection needles are very fine, so it can make the procedure more comfortable for the patient.

After getting a Facial Filler, is there downtime?

There may be a modicum of discomfort after the treatment, but there is no downtime. Although some patients may experience swelling that lasts a few days, they should be able to immediately return to their regular activities. Extreme heat and cold should be avoided around the treated area until the swelling subsides. Alcohol consumption and exercise should not resume until at least 6 hours after the treatment. Some patients may wait a day to go out publicly after lip injections, since they can possibly swell after the treatment.

How much is a Facial Filler treatment?

Facial Filler treatments can range between $500 to $650 per syringe. Depending on the patient multiple syringes may be required. At Advanced Skin Fitness we use a variety of fillers, so they vary in pricing. We typically charge $500 per syringe for all of our fillers with the exception of JuveDerm Voluma which is more expensive but is FDA approved to last 2 years. Can Facial Fillers be used on all skin types? Facial Fillers can safely be used on different skin types and skin color.
